Mom's been thinking about switching us to this new diet called RAW. It's basically a combination of raw meat and bones. It confuses her, she wants to learn more about it. It's supposed to cost about the same as the food we already have, and is much better for us...but it's time consuming. Not as easy as opening a bag of kibble. She'll have to talk to butchers about getting organ meat for us, the kind they don't sell on the shelf at Safeway.
She decided to test out how much we liked raw meat. We had a bag of frozen chicken thighs in the freezer. Seeing as we'd never had raw meat before, Mom thought we'd turn our noses up, or at least play around with the food before we ate it. After all, chihuahuas are known for being finicky. And we heard a story about one of our chihuahua friends not knowing what to do with a raw chicken wing. But as the chicken thigh was getting cut up we were all over her, whining. She couldn't believe we were that interested, and didn't even know what it was. It was like she was cutting up a T-bone steak. Daisy whined like she does when she wants to go on a walk. Maybe our wild dog instincts kicked in somehow.
We each got about 8 small pieces cut up into bite sizes. Our eyes are big, but we don't have big stomachs. Spike got a little more than we did since he's bigger. Foxy's a spoiled dog and got a thigh cut in half, with the bone too. Apparently we can eat these bones too, but they can't be cooked. When Grandma held Foxy's plate out to her, Daisy grabbed one of the halves and ran into the house with it. Mom and Grandma were yelling at her, but she wouldn't stop. It was a wild goose chase.
Dinner took about 30 seconds tonight. We are definitely interested in this RAW diet thing, and hope to get more yummy things to eat. Maybe even a chicken neck or gizzard next time!!
